Here I Am!

24 Oct

Well. Here I am! I’ve been thinking about starting my very own blog for a long time. I just haven’t taken the time to jump into it. But tonight I did – and I have to admit, I am so excited about it.

A little background on me … I’ve been married 12 years to a wonderful man – The Husband – and we have one son, Joe, who is in 2nd grade and will turn 8 in January. Joe will, I’m certain of it, be the focus of future blog posts as he is my little humorous wonder! We also have the world’s cutest pug dog – Earl. He’s perfectly lazy, has the loudest snore and the biggest heart in the world. We live just outside the Twin Cities in a community called Buffalo – part small town, part suburb, and a great place to work and raise a family. I can look out my backyard and see farmland, cows and horses, so that makes me happy.

My farm roots are back in Hector, Minnesota – a small town of about 1,000 people who are surrounded by some of the most fabulous black dirt on earth. I am the oldest of three kids – I have one brother and one sister – and we are a close-knit family. My father and brother raise corn and soybeans on about 2,000 acres of farmland, my mother tends to truly breathtaking gardens, and we get back home to “The Farm” often.

My work background has been in journalism. In fact, I was a pretty focused and serious kid growing up – I have always wanted to be a writer (well, except for when I wanted to be a teacher). Along the way, though, I cultivated a lot of different interests, some of which are the direct result of my current job, which I have held for 17 years!  I’ll share all of that in future blog posts.

For now, I’m just happy to be writing.
